Probably the best thing about my Sophomore year is Youth Leadership Toledo (YLT). This is a group for high school sophomores around the Toledo area; we all get together once a month at different businesses and buildings in and around Toledo and learn leadership skills, interpersonal communication skills, and even some business skills. I have made so many friends through this program; we all get along with each other, and there is no drama like in most high school groups! The biggest undertaking of my life came out of/from YLT: organizing a 5K run/walk. In YLT, you are split into small groups (of about 7 people) and told to put together some sort of service project. My group chose to organize a 5K run/walk for Vail Meadows, a facility that uses equestrian therapy for mentally and/or physically disabled children and adults. The event will take place at Vail Meadows (Cedar Point RD. right next to Maumee Bay State Park) on Sunday, April 10, 2011. The race starts at 9 A.M.
I cannot picture my Sophomore year without YLT- it has been that great and life-changing! I'm also going to continue on with my leadership; I am going to HOBY in June, and I'm also going to the World leadership Congress in Chicago this July.
